Electrofusion Fittings — Welded Integrity for Critical Mains

Precision EF solutions and expert support for leak‑free, long‑term pipeline performance.

Our Range

Electrofusion Fittings for Every PE Pipeline Application

DM Plastics and Steel electrofusion (EF) fittings deliver high‑integrity, permanent joints for pressured trunk mains, reticulation and critical utility networks. Available in a broad size range (typically DN25–DN630, size and style dependent), our EF couplers, tees, elbows, reducers, saddles and flange adaptors are manufactured for compatibility with PE pipe and to industry standards.

Engineered for repeatable fusion performance, EF fittings provide leak‑free, welded joins that suit civil, mining, municipal and industrial applications where long‑term integrity matters. Our products are supplied with clear welding guidance, recommended clamping practices and cool‑down information to support correct installation by qualified PE welders.

DM Plastics and Steel combines quality components, in‑house inspection and technical support with a Producing Solutions approach — helping clients specify the right EF styles, source appropriate clamps and tooling, and deliver bespoke fabricated assemblies or repair solutions to meet project specifications and timelines. Electrofusion Fittings FAQs

What size EF fittings are available?
DMP&S can supply EF fittings from DN25 to DN630. Size availability is subject to the style of fitting. Please speak with our team about your requirements.
Always keep fittings in the plastic bag and out of the direct sunlight. Couplers should be stored on their flat ends.

Operators installing electrofusion fittings on PE pipelines must be trained and qualified in PE welding by an accredited training organisation. A list of approved PE welding trainers is available from the Plastic Industry Pipe Association (PIPA)’s website .

The welding process involves two stages – heating (fusion) and cooling. Cool down times are listed on the fitting barcode and fittings. The fitting should remain clamped during the cooling time.

Clamping the fittings during the EF joining process is important as it prevents the pipe and fittings from moving during the welding & cooling process. It also keeps the fittings aligned with the pipe, preventing the weight of the pipe from applying lateral pressure to the join.

Peeling & cleaning pipe before an EF weld is critical to ensure a permanent, leak-proof, successful joint. Peeling removes the outside layer of oxidised PE material before welding. Oxidised material is on the outside of all PE pipes and is the result of the manufacturing process. Unless this layer is removed, the oxidised material will inhibit the EF welding process, resulting in a failed weld. Cleaning after peeling ensures all contaminants, dust, grease and moisture are removed from the pipe surface prior to welding.
A maximum of 0.2mm for pipes up to DN25, 0.2mm to 0.3mm for pipes up to DN75 and 0.2mm to 0.4mm for pipes larger than DN75. These numbers may change over time, refer to PIPA for the most current industry guidelines.
Always used approved Isopropyl Alcohol EF welding wipes to clean the pipe before welding. Other substances such as metho, acetone, rags, cloths, sandpaper and wire brushes contain contaminants that inhibit the welding process. Contamination will result in weld failure. Always allow the surface to dry after cleaning with Isopropyl alcohol wipes.
