DM Plastics & Steel were awarded the supply and delivery of 1,110 km (over 1.1 million metres) of 75 mm rural polyethylene pipe for a major water and infrastructure project on a remote cattle station in the Barkly Tablelands in the Northern Territory. To put the volume in context, the total length supplied — more than 1.1 million metres — is enough pipe to cover an area larger than the Australian island state of Tasmania when laid out, illustrating the extraordinary scale of this single program.
Pipe was manufactured into 970 m jumbo project coils to minimise joints, reduce transport movements and accelerate installation. The package included the full complement of fittings — joiners, elbows and tees — supplied ready for installation. Materials were delivered over 76 trailer loads with deliveries staged to match the client’s installation schedule and remote access constraints.
Project management was led by our Major Projects team, who coordinated production scheduling, product manufacture, QA/QC, batch testing, freight planning, journey management and site liaison. All product material certificates and batch test results were issued with every load, with DMP&S managing and completing all testing in‑house to ensure full traceability and conformity. Staged delivery windows and coordinated unloading sequences minimised on‑site storage, reduced installation time and lowered join‑related risk for the client.
This program reinforces DMP&S’s rural roots and capability to deliver very large‑volume, remote infrastructure projects: specialist coil manufacture, complete fittings supply, end‑to‑end logistics and rigorous in‑house quality assurance to reliably deliver water distribution solutions for large pastoral operations.
